I’d refrain myself from posting about “sensitive” things like Religion and Politics. But silence is not always good. At times like this I can’t help sharing my opinion.
My heart goes out to all the victims of Dhaka Attack and their families. There is no word to express how I feel about the great loss on our soil.
We are shocked to say the least. What was previously thought that these brainwashed terrorists would come from deprived families is wrong. It is dangerous that the terrorists are from solvent families, with education. This attack may be dubbed by many as one of the ISIS missions, but why Bangladesh? Is this also about undermining credibility of current government? Who are supporting Islamist militancy in Bangladesh?
Bengal has thousand years of history of great struggles – that we faced together – without resources that we have now. Secularism is foundation of our diverse culture and national identity. We are hospitable and tolerant. Our struggles teach us to make no division among human beings, but if we must, let it be pacifists standing against terrorism.
We have to understand Globalism is good for us. When we are using technology and all these amenities of life, we are benefited by contributions from people irrespective of their cultural, religious or national identity. This alone is a very good reason to have respect for each other.
If you see your family member or your friends showing signs of Extremism – far left or far right, have constructive discussion with them. Let’s teach younger ones great importance of coexistence in both personal and collective development. Secondly, let’s spread awareness against ISIS and parties that lean toward their ideology – even if you are a moderate Muslim. Bangladesh has 90% Muslim. We cannot fight terrorism if this huge portion remains silent. If we think we are safe from terrorists because we are Muslims it would be foolish. Terrorism is enemy of us all.
The government must initiate operations to remove this disease from society, and possibly collaborate with anti-terrorism units from neighboring countries in this fight. We must ensure maximum security for people holding diplomatic status in Bangladesh. We cannot compromise with terrorists. We show this in united action.
