A personal news to share folks: I’m now a dual citizen of Bangladesh and Canada.
I still remember the day I arrived as a student, on August 19, 2014. I put down my luggage and stood alone in an empty house. I was a stranger in a strange land, a new Tom Sawyer. I never felt alienated having gone through the rhythms and lyrics of the holy triumvirate. People are the same inside. I am one of them.
Montreal became my second home soon. Today, after 8 years, I can officially call the great north my home.

It’s never easy to settle down in another country. I’m very fortunate – I want to thank my family, my everything; and my friends in Canada and abroad.
I’ve met many interesting people who have all contributed to this journey. However there are two people who absolutely deserve a special shoutout!
First, Borno! Thank you dsst for being there whenever I needed help – from finding an apartment to helping me order my first coffee at Tim Horton’s!
And Abbu. I have no words to describe how truly grateful I am. Thank you, Abbu, for everything. You are the best!
A dual citizenship means I represent two countries – their reputation, tradition, values. I shall immerse myself deeper into the Canadian culture, while retaining my individuality, my roots.
